Cold chills went down my back and I let out a screech, "Pepper No, No!". She was not going to let that little furry critter out of her mouth. E came to the rescue with R's work gloves on. E managed to get the animal from Pepper's grip and picked the critter up by it's tail. It wasn't a rat to my relief. I was ready to put a "For Sale" sign in front of my house if it had been a rat. It was a baby possum. Pepper had jumped a foot in the air and grabbed it from the trunk of our tree. E gave it a proper burial...a big fling in the air to the green belt area behind our fence.
