On Our Way Back To Dublin To Fly Home

On the 23rd of February, we headed from Limerick to Dublin to catch

our flight home to Seattle.

We arrived in Dublin and went to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. It was closed when we were there earlier in the week, but it was open for viewing now. r and I went in to see the Book of Kells and the Trinity Library, which was absolutely beautiful! (No photography in there, sorry no photos)

Botticelli, the best ever Italian ice cream!! r and I made R take us there every night we were in Dublin. We had to make one last stop before we flew home!

Our trip to Ireland was as awesome as we expected it to be and the sunny weather for the 8 days made it even more beautiful!

The Ol' Irish Pub

A REAL Irish Pub, with the Guinness filled bellies and the Irish music!

Guinness stew, mash, fish and chips........who said Irish food isn't good! Fattening but good!

Cliffs of Moher

The cliffs were beautiful and the wind was strong. I told r to put his jacket up and he could fly. He did fly, right into a muddy puddle. The wind is blowing his hat tassel up!

LIMERICK

We stayed in Limerick for two nights. Limerick is by the river, like most large Irish cities. It's an industrial looking city. We saw some of the sights in Limerick, but mainly used that as a lodging point.

GPS Don't Fail Us Now

We typed in our destination, Adare and the GPS led us somewhere else, but we discovered a wonderful beach and a cute little starfish.

All over Ireland you'll see swans in the most random water sources, rivers, lakes, ponds, etc... There is a law in Ireland that prohibits the killing of swans. There's an old Irish tale of a fairy turning children into swans. (I read so many Irish tales I can't keep them straight. Do your research if you really want to know. Ha!)

We finally reached Adare and it was a fun little place.

After Adare we headed to Youghal, a fishing village. Youghal is where the 1954 Moby Dick was filmed. It was interesting to see the boats tied up waiting for high tide.

Kissin' The Blarney Stone

We were so lucky to visit Blarney Castle on a beautiful sunny day! The grounds were so green and the brook running through was so clear. It was a magical day! I've always dreamed of kissing the Blarney Stone and I did, but with a little anxiety getting up to the top of the castle and then looking down 80 feet below. I wasn't sure I wanted to hang over the edge of the castle, with an old Irish man holding my legs, but I did, I had to, I was there!


Some of the floors/ceilings had collapsed so you were able to look up to floors above.


Here is the round staircase you climbed to get to the top of the castle.

The underground tunnels under the castle leading to hidden trap doors for easy escape when the tenants were being invaded.

A Break from the Ireland Trip....

A went to TOLO last weekend with her date, Chevian. They played airsoft gun wars in the morning and then went home to get all dolled up for the dinner and dance. They went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse in Seattle and then went to their high school TOLO dance. TOLO is a girls' invitation dance, but no one seems to know what TOLO means. Uhm...
