I've been in Ireland and this is what I've discovered:
1) Ireland has only been a REAL country of their own for almost 65 years
2) John F Kennedy winning the election gave all Irish people a hope for a better tomorrow...then he was assassinated....ironic.
3) "Luck of the Irish" is a total ironic saying. The Irish haven't been a very lucky people in their history
4) Irish people are very easy going people, they never know when their government with change or if Britain will try to use their power over them like they have in the past
5) If you love potatoes Ireland is the place for you! Mashed, baked, made into boxties, a potato pancake with a filling. I love potatoes, so I am loving the Irish cuisine.
6) The Irish have such a sarcastic sense of humor.I love it. Our tour guide today told the lamb in the road to get out of the way, we don't want to eat lamb chops for lunch, then he said "Excuse the Irish road rage". Ha!
7) The Irish have the best little sayings.... the tour guide told us where the toilets were and then proceeded to tell us to do our "hey diddle diddles" before we got on the bus for a long drive back to Dublin
8) I've learned that I'm proud of my Irish ancestry. I've discovered why I do the things I do...it's in my genes.
9) In Ireland there are a lot of ancient ruins, historical items and they don't do much to preserve them. I think it's due to the lack of governmental funds.
10) I love bland tasting cookies and Ireland has the best custard biscuits ever and add scones to the list too. I love bland cookies.
11)I've realized what a beautiful place I'm fortunate to live in. Washington state beats any Irish scenery hands down. So if you want beautiful scenery, it's cheaper to fly to Seattle. ha!
